Last Chance for Two for One Tuesday!

Tuesday October 19th is your last chance to sign up for Two for One Tuesdays, as we will no longer be offering this promotion. New patients receive a free treatment when they arrive with a returning client. Bring in your friends, family, neighbors, or co-workers!

Welcome Baby Essie!

Congratulations to Amy and her husband Michael as they welcomed Esther Eloise into the world on Friday October 1st, 2010. Both Amy and Essie are healthy and doing well!

Amy’s Maternity Status

As many of you know, I am 9 months pregnant, and am due on September 25th.  I wanted to give you an update on what our plan is here at MCA for when I have the baby.

Denise will be our full-time receptionist from now on here at the clinic. You will more than likely see her sitting at the desk when you first walk in, rather than Olive, myself or one of our fine volunteers. Olive will be taking over treating all shifts at the clinic. We do not plan on changing our hours at all at this time. We plan on this being a smooth transition as Olive and I work out of the same charts, and we already share many clients.

I am very happy to announce that Olive will be attending my labor. She will be giving me acupuncture throughout the different stages of labor to help speed things along and minimalize the discomfort of the contractions. Since we will both be out, we may need to cancel a shift at the clinic. In that case you will receive a call from Denise to cancel and reschedule your appointment. We thank you for your understanding about this.

Depending how things go, I plan on slowly integrating back into treating at the clinic after 4 weeks of leave. We’ll keep you posted here on the blog!

Also, I plan on seeing clients up until I have the baby, although I am cutting back on my hours slightly. Starting next Friday, September 10 Olive will start treating clients on Fridays. I will continue to see clients Tuesday & Thursday mornings, and Wednesday evenings.

Thanks and be well!

Amy

Fish Fry & a Flick

Come check out our table at Fish Fry &  a Flick this Friday from 5:30 – dusk! The movie this Friday is the Hangover. Get ready to laugh!

Both Olive and I will be there, and we’d love to meet you and answer any of your questions about acupuncture and how it can help you.

Be well!

Amy

Arthritis

May is National Arthritis Month. If you suffer from arthritis, acupuncture can help!

Osteoarthritis (OA), or degenerative joint disease, is the most common form of arthritis, affecting over 27 million Americans*. OA is a chronic condition which causes the breakdown of cartilage in joints leading to joint pain and stiffness. OA typically affects the hips, hands, knees, low back and neck.

The symptoms of OA all revolve around inflammation of the joint capsule. Acupuncture can help with the symptoms of OA by reducing the amount of inflammation within the joint, and increasing the range of motion. Acupuncture is a gentle treatment method, and can be ideal for those wanting to avoid medications, or for those who medication wasn’t effective.

Click here for more information on how acupuncture can help. To make an appointment at Milwaukee Community Acupuncture, give us a call at 414-943-2915, or schedule online.

Spring Newsletter

Greetings,

We hope you are enjoying the warmer weather as we transition out of winter. In Chinese Medicine wood is the element that is associated with spring. Wood energy represents growth, renewal and expansion. The energy that has laid dormant all winter is ready to push through the ground and reach for the sky. Spring is a great time to come in for an acupuncture tune-up. Just like spring cleaning in our homes, our bodies can also benefit from a “spring cleaning” with acupuncture.

For Milwaukee Community Acupuncture, spring has also brought new growth and expansion to our clinic. We have recently expanded our clinic hours to accommodate our growing number of patients. We have added Tuesday and Thursday evenings in addition to our regular hours. Our new schedule looks like this:

Monday: 4pm – 8pm

Tuesday: 9am – 1pm
4pm – 8pm

Wednesday: 4pm – 8pm

Thursday: 9am – 1pm
4pm – 8pm

Friday: Noon – 4pm

Saturday: Noon – 4pm

Recliners
We are looking for two recliners to replace existing ones in the clinic. If anyone has a recliner that they would like to donate to the clinic we would greatly appreciate it! Please contact us directly at 414-943-2915, or milwaukeecommunityacupuncture@gmail.com.

Special Offers
Don’t forget about our special offers, which are always available.

With the smoking ban quickly approaching, the Quit Smoking Package may be a helpful and affordable aid to your quitting goals. The package includes:
unlimited acupuncture sessions for 30 days
discounted tune-up treatments for the next 30 days
handouts and tools to help you quit
For more information, or to sign up, please call us at 414-943-2915, or email us at milwaukeecommunityacupuncture@gmail.com.

Two for One Tuesdays just got better with our expanded Tuesday hours! New patients receive a free treatment when they schedule an appointment with a returning client. Bring (or drag) friends, family or co-workers!

Massage & Organic Skincare at MCA
Our massage therapist, Stefanie Zydowicz, and our aesthetician, Laurie Viduski, are now offering online scheduling through the same service we use. Just click the service to make an appointment for massage or organic skincare.

Stefanie and Laurie have teamed up to offer a very special Mother’s Day gift certificate which includes an hour long massage and an hour long facial for just $99! Contact them directly to take advantage of this great deal.

Stefanie can be reached at 414-243-9770, or lagom.massage@gmail.com.
Laurie can be reached at 414-313-5850, or beginrevival@gmail.com.

In the Media
MCA was recently listed in “100 More Things to do in Milwaukee” by OnMilwaukee.com. Read the article and check out the other 99 things to do.

Also listed was Bay View’s new community yoga center. Saffron Yoga Center offers donation-based yoga classes which means you pay what you can per class. They also offer workshops and host gallery nights. Saffron is located at 2375 S. Howell Ave in the old Paper Boat space. We highly recommend their classes.

Membership
MCA has recently become a member of Our Milwaukee.

“Our Milwaukee is a business alliance that advocates for locally owned businesses that provide a genuine, quality experience – in celebration of our community’s unique character.”

We have a tremendous amount of power in the way that we choose to spend our money. For every dollar spent at a locally owned business, more then 68¢ remains in Milwaukee. For every dollar spent at at a chain business, only 14¢ is recirculated.

The mission of Our Milwaukee aligns with the ideals of MCA in supporting the members of our community. Check out other Our Milwaukee members here.

We wish you a very healthy and happy spring!
-The staff at Milwaukee Community Acupuncture

Tuesday: 9am-1pm & 4pm – 8pm

Wednesday: 4pm – 8pm

We’d also like to give a shout out to Haleybird Studios for hosting a wonderful Wellness Day this past Saturday, March 13th. Amy attended and gave a 30 minute lecture on community acupuncture.
